About the Organisation

Lighthouse Relief Hellas is the Greek registered branch of the Swedish NGO Lighthouse Relief. Our teams of skilled, international staff and volunteers provide emergency relief to refugees that arrive on the Greek island of Lesvos, and services in Ritsona refugee camp in mainland Greece. Our branch ECO Relief on Lesvos focuses on restoring the shoreline on Lesvos and other local projects to support the island. Our ambition is to find a response that simultaneously improves the conditions for both refugees and local actors.

Lighthouse Relief Hellas undertakes all the activities of Lighthouse Relief in Greece: programming, humanitarian response, advocacy and fundraising. As the national branch of an international NGO, Lighthouse Relief Hellas is present every day on the field in Greece, but also plays a strategic and important role in campaigns and advocacy for our beneficiaries internationally.

Grants & Reporting Officer

Contract: Minimum 6 months with possibility to extend. Start date: ASAP.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Grants and Reporting Officer (GRO) is responsible for ensuring that information and data from the field is documented and reported in a timely manner for internal purposes as well as donor relations. The GRO is also responsible for developing programme materials for Lighthouse Relief's internal and external audiences and supporting donor relations. The GRO will be based in Chalkida, Central Greece, but might also work from other LHR field locations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Draft concept notes, proposals, project narratives, and carry out the day-to-day management of donor reporting.
  • Track donors’ evolving priorities and requirements.
  • Collaborate with each site coordinator and programme manager to ensure that information is being managed and collected.
  • Liaise with programme managers to support the implementation of monitoring and evaluation.
  • Create multi-faceted products such as reports and infographics, based on monitoring and evaluation systems.
  • Produce reports and dashboards to update staff, LHR HQ and external audiences on our operations in the field.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative data from the field to enhance communications materials.

QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL

  • Fluency in English, excellent writing and communication skills
  • Experience in grant writing and/or monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience in working with data in Excel
  • Ability to produce informative and engaging written material
  • Ability to work with limited resources in a what can be a challenging environment
  • Ability to work well under minimal supervision and be self-motivated
  • Experience in volunteering or working with a non-profit organisation, international organization, or UN agency.
  • Positive personality, and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • EU-nationality or a valid work VISA for Greece

DESIRED

  • Degree in a relevant field
  • Previous experience in data analysis and visualisation
  • Previous experience in working with design software (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop)
  • Previous experience in information management in the humanitarian sector
  • Previous experience and knowledge of issues related to displaced populations
  • Language skills in Greek, Arabic, Kurdish, Farsi/Dari is an asset

Child Friendly Space (CFS) Facilitator

Contract: Minimum 3 months with possibility to extend. 

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Lighthouse Relief has been operational at Ritsona Refugee Camp since April 2016 and since has established the first Child Friendly Space (CFS) under our Child Protection Programme. The purpose of a Child Friendly Space is to provide children with the security to play, socialize, learn, and express themselves in a structured and free-flowing environment. Child Friendly Spaces are one of Lighthouse Relief’s key programmatic interventions to protect children from physical harm and psychosocial distress and to help them continue learning and developing both during and immediately after an emergency.

The Child Friendly Space Facilitator will support the CFS Manager in ensuring activities for children not attending school (3-5) in the Child Friendly Space (CFS).

REPORTS TO:

CFS Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise and support children’s activities at agreed times.
  • Conduct a daily visual assessment of the children and ensure the lesson plans are followed.
  • Maintain and ensure a child-friendly atmosphere with the Child Friendly Space.
  • Ensure that safeguarding standards are understood and met.
  • Ensure that health and safety incidents are reported.
  • Share documentation and participation tracking responsibility with the CFS manager
  • Conduct community outreach to encourage children to come to the CFS
  • Assist CFS Manager in holding parental sessions 
  • Support CFS Manager to facilitate training and inductions to CFS volunteers
  • Support the planning and development of the CFS curriculum/program, including monitoring and evaluation.
  • Be a positive role model and demonstrate conflict solving behaviors.
  • Oversee inventory of CFS supplies and ensure equipment is accounted for and stored securely
  • Report any protection concerns or identified gaps to CFS Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED

  • Degree in international Education, Social Work, Child Development, Psychology, or related field.
  • Previous experience working with children.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to adapt to a multicultural context and work cross-linguistically.
  • Good organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Cross Cultural Awareness and flexibility.
  • Well organized and efficient.
  •  Good interpersonal & communications skills.
  • Working knowledge of Excel

DESIRED

  • Fluent Arabic (written and spoken), excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Experience working with refugee/migrant children.
  • Prior work experience with an INGO in an emergency setting preferred
  • Knowledge of Kurdish/Farsi/Dari is an asset.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience developing and writing proposals.
  • Ability drive manual transmission.

Female Friendly Space (FFS) Manager

Contract: Minimum 3 months with possibility to extend.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Female Friendly Space (FFS) Manager will coordinate all aspects of Lighthouse Relief’s (LHR’s) FFS by developing psychosocial support (PSS) activities for women and adolescent girls and undertaking comprehensive community outreach in Ritsona refugee camp. The FFS Manager will work closely with FFS Interns and Volunteers to develop Information Education and Communication (IEC) sessions on stress management, professional development, education, culture, etc. This role entails managing FFS volunteers and empowering them to work as a cohesive team to create a safe healing environment for all women and adolescent girls in the camp.

REPORTS TO:

Regional Coordinator

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide dynamic leadership to a team of volunteers by leading through example, giving clear directions and cultivating their strengths and sense of empowerment.
  • Provide hands-on training and ongoing guidance to FFS volunteers
  • Develop culturally appropriate, context-specific PSS activities and expand on current activities for women and adolescent girls with the input of FFS volunteers.
  • Develop Information Education and Communication (IEC) sessions on stress management, professional development, education, culture, etc. in the FFS and lead the sessions with the facilitation of the FFS team.
  • Develop community outreach strategies and undertake community outreach with the support of the FFS team
  • Manage the FFS volunteer schedule.
  • Develop a monthly budget, procure all FFS activity materials and maintain weekly FFS bookkeeping.
  • Ensure that you and the FFS volunteers adhere to camp safety standards and LHR Code of Conduct at all times.
  • Lead weekly team debriefings to discuss successes, challenges and strategic planning.
  • Undertake Monitoring and Evaluation, Reporting and strategic planning of the FFS program.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Rights, Women’s Studies, International Relations, or a related field
  • Experience working with vulnerable women and adolescent girls, such as  survivors of GBV, women refugees, asylum seekers, or migrants
  • A self-starter with proven leadership experience
  • Comprehension of and willingness to learn MHPSS programme development   
  • Solution-oriented self-starter who has the ability to adapt to challenging and changing circumstances  
  • Good-natured and jovial attitude; easily approachable
  • Working knowledge of Excel
  • English and Arabic language proficiency
  • International Driver's License and ability to drive a manual car

DESIRED

  • Experienced in holistic therapy, creative arts, handicrafts, music therapy, art therapy, yoga, dance
  • Casework experience
  • Experience in project design, monitoring and evaluation and financial processes in relation to MHPSS for vulnerable populations
  • Experience working in a refugee camp or post-conflict environment
  • Experience working with Syrian populations
  • Kurdish language skills in addition to English and Arabic

Project & Volunteer Coordinator

Contract: Minimum 4 months with possibility to extend. 

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Project & Volunteer Coordinator manages volunteer recruitment and project administration in Central Greece. In this role you will be responsible for all aspects of LHRH’s volunteer programme, including the recruitment, onboarding, and management of volunteers during their stay and service in Greece. The Volunteer Coordinator works closely with the Regional Coordinator and Programme Managers to ensure the success of the volunteer workforce.

REPORTS TO:

  • Regional Coordinator, Central Greece

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the recruitment process and orientation of new volunteers, including programme development for volunteer management in Greece
  • Serve as the point of contact for all incoming volunteers, and manage their placement onboarding
  • Work with Project Managers to plan and schedule shifts and ensure volunteer coverage at all field sites
  • Serve as the focal point for feedback from volunteers throughout their time with Lighthouse and support them in their role, including establishing team-building exercises and activities
  • Work to improve the general volunteer experience; develop M&E framework to measure impact of volunteer workforce
  • Administration including, but not limited to, logging on-site donations, uploading receipts of monthly expenses and petty cash handling and reimbursement.
  • Assist in purchasing and transport/housing logistics for staff, ensuring the budget is being followed.
  • Assist the Regional Coordinator in the field when needed
     

QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL

  • Studies in social sciences, development studies, HR or a related field; or working experience in a related field
  • Exceptional English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills
  • Ability to work with limited resources in a sometimes challenging environment
  • Ability to cultivate enthusiasm in others
  • Works well under minimal supervision and be self-motivated
