What is a lighthouse relief ambassador?

The Ambassador Programme celebrates our passionate volunteer community and their commitment to standing #WithRefugees. Ambassadors are past LHR volunteers, staff, donors and supporters who are eager to extend their impact far beyond their initial engagement with us. As an Ambassador, you will have access to the resources you need to act as an agent of change on behalf of LHR in your home community and will be part of a growing network of activists working to spread awareness and fundraise for LHR's mission to provide a dignified, respectful and empowering humanitarian response.

5 Reasons Why You Should Become an Ambassador:

1. Continue to serve the people you met while in Greece

2. Raise awareness of the plight of refugees

3. Influence you community to take action

4. Meet like-minded people around the world

5. Get exclusive updates from Lesvos and Ritsona

SHARE

Raise awareness of the refugee situation in Greece by using social media to share your insights after volunteering with Lighthouse Relief. This is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to inform your broader networks about the refugee situation in Greece. However, it can feel daunting to condense everything you've experienced into a post – particularly when trying to communicate the very sensitive and complex issues you observed while volunteering. Here are some resources that can help.

“There are several people in my network that truly care about the refugee crisis but their professional lives simply don't give them the time to provide long term volunteer support. In lieu of their own volunteer (4).png

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Social Media Toolkit: Includes sample content for all your social media platforms.
  • Photo Library: Photos that meet our sensitivity guidelines and can be shared by ambassadors online.
  • Video Library: Feel free to use any of our videos during your presentation to help showcase what we do.

FUNDRAISE

Many volunteers express a desire to continue fundraising for LHR once they return home but aren't sure where to start. Whether you're interested in organizing a fundraising event in your community or would like to set up your own online donations page, we're here to help. Here are a few tools to help ensure your fundraising activities are connected with our broader programmatic priorities and funding needs.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • LHR's GlobalGiving Fundraising Platform: We use GlobalGiving for our resource mobilization efforts, and encourage our supporters to set up an account on the same platform so we're all well-connected.
  • Fundraising How-To Guide: Tips and tricks for running a successful fundraiser.
  • Gift Guide: Give a gift that brings warmth, safety and sustained support to refugees on the fringes in Greece

  • Branding Guidelines: Logos and everything else you'll need for a visually outstanding fundraising event.

We're always looking for dynamic new people to join our team, but it's difficult to find the ideal candidates on our own. With your help, we can ensure that our organization continues to be powered by dedicated and skilled professionals...just like you!
