2022

During 2022 our football programme continued to be supported by the SOL Foundation. Their generosity enabled us to recruit two new full-time staff to run our sports activities. Working alongside our volunteers and interns, this enabled us to plan and run many more sessions, as we expanded our programme to cater for the increasing population of Ritsona camp.

As the official FIFA World Cup took place in Qatar, players from Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, South Sudan, Congo, Palestine and Haiti competed for the Ritsona Cup! Each team comprised players from around the world who exhibited unity and teamwork, transcending linguistic and cultural borders and showing what's possible when we overcome our differences. Although tensions occasionally ran high, it presented a welcome break from the daily struggles and monotony of life in a refugee camp.
